General enquiries

Breast cancer is one of the most highly diagnosed cancers among women, so not only is it imperative for women to regularly check their breasts, but to have easy access to first-rate services too.

The Wilmslow Hospital dedicated Women’s Health Unit offers a premium service delivered by leading consultants in the breast cancer field. The team consists of breast surgeons, re-constructive breast surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and nurse specialists.

Rapid access breast clinic

Our rapid access clinic is supported by the latest imaging technology, which is vital for early detection and improving outcomes. You will undergo a triple assesment as part of your consultation and will receive your results only 48 hours after your appointment. To access this service, you can contact us directly to book an appointment for a consultation and triple assessment.

What is a Triple Assessment?

  • Mammogram – a set of x-rays of the breast, used to diagnose breast symptoms in women over 35.
  • Ultrasound scan – a form of imaging that uses high frequency sound waves to investigate the inside of the breast. This is commonly used for women under 35 or as a further investigation in older women.
  • Breast biopsies e.g. core needle biopsy, fine needle aspirate cytology (FNAC), stereotactic core needle biopsy – these use a fine needle, guided by ultrasound or x-ray, to remove a sample of tissue to test.

For women over 50 years of age we recommend that you participate in the NHS breast screening programme, which offers you a mammogram every three years. If you wish to supplement this with a visit to our Breast Care Clinics “inbetween” then of course we would be pleased to see you to provide added reassurance.

Why choose The Wilmslow Hospital for your breast care?
