Biography

Sue qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1990 and worked for 8 years on gynaecology, colorectal, urology and general surgery wards at University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust; where she developed an interest in pelvic floor, bladder and bowel care. She became a Continence Advisor in 1998 at East Cheshire NHS Trust co-ordinating nurse-led clinics in hospital and community settings treating adults and paediatrics. She ran Urodynamic Clinics and taught several teaching programmes relating to Bladder and Bowel care. She came to Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2001 and specialised in pelvic floor dysfunction and functional bowel problems. Sue provides Biofeedback treatment, trans-anal irrigation treatment and Percutaneous Tibial Nerve treatment. She also specialises in Neuromodulation to rehabilitate poor muscle tone and function and assists in all Specialist Pelvic Floor Clinics with the Urogynaecologists and Colorectal Surgeons. Sue teaches on various study days, courses and UK Masterclasses and has written several guidelines and protocols about her Specialist Clinical Practice.

Previously she has worked with celebrities promoting continence awareness on the radio and has written blogs in best-selling UK magazines about how much we can offer our patients today. Discussing continence problems is still a taboo subject. She is a member of the Pelvic Floor Society, Royal College of Nursing and a judge on UK Nursing boards for improving bowel care.
