Dr Saravanan qualified from Kilpauk Medical College (Madras India) in 1994. He underwent Senior House Officer training in general medicine at various UK hospitals (Royal Gwent Hospital, North Staffordshire Hospital and Walsgrave Hospital Coventry 1995-2001) and subsequently completed his training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine at the Mersey Deanery (Royal Liverpool Hospital in Crewe 2001-2006).

Dr Saravanan under took advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship training at St Michael's Hospital (Centre for advanced therapeutic endoscopy and gastrointestinal cancer) Toronto, Canada and successfuly completed this international fellowship from the University of Toronto in 2007.

Dr Saravanan has a keen interest in training and education and is the Course Director of the TECNA training course which is run nationally. He was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Macclesfield District General Hospital in March 2010 and practices privately at The Wilmslow Hospital.
